Not only did the senior boys pour excessive sweat, but they poured their hearts out to make their last competition memorable.

With their fellow classmates cheering them on, they were determined to make the Valiants proud.

They were neck and neck until the third set, more determined than ever to bring it home.

Despite their loss on the score board, their contribution to their alma mater and team members will be forever appreciated.

 Senioritis attacks high-achieving, average and struggling students alike. By this time in the school year, most college-bound seniors have turned in their applications and received their acceptance letters. The 30% of seniors who aren’t headed for a higher education may not have figured out what they want to do after graduation. 

In Saint Genevieve High School’s senior class of 2008, senioritis relatively seems not to be the issue that other high school seniors are engulfed simultaneously during their senior year. The high participation of seniors in sports, play productions and most importantly homecoming demonstrates that the class of 2008 can have fun during their senior year while maintaining their academics as the utmost importance.  

The Class of 2008 proves to the Valiant community an important aspect of their achievement as a class. The first time in _ years there has never been a class who has maintained a grade-point average above a 3.0 until now. Only one percent of the senior class has a grade-point average below a 3.0.  

“I am very glad to know that we are not letting senioritis get to us. Not only are the seniors excelling their academics, the seniors are also dominating many of the extracurricular activities. This is our last year in high school and we are doing it big,” said senior Justin Sabino.  

Senior John Paul Quiocho also agrees.

“It just proves that academically, the students of Saint Genevieve are getting more intellectual and are having fun learning in class. For the past years, SGHS has struggled to searching teachers with great credentials and with just that 1% it shows that we’ve achieved an unexpected goal.”

 The seniors are commencing a legacy for the underclassmen to take the initiative to follow their footsteps and face the odds regardless of the circumstance.

Senior Annabel Navarro has gotten the opportunity to be part of the drumline ensemble by playing the only keyboard percussion; the xylophone. Like any other instrument, the xylophone requires constant practice and dedication in order to master professionalism. In order to reach professionalism, not only does experience take part to become great, rather the passion for it is what makes it acquirable.

Once an announcement was made in the beginning of the school year calling all interested Valiants to take part of joining drumline; Annabel was immediately intrigued. Having a knowledgeable background of playing various instruments, she knew that being part of drumline would enrich her passion for music.  

Annabel, as well as her fellow drumline members, is passionate about playing instruments while at the same time contributing her unique talent to her school. They constantly practice and dedicate themselves to do something that they enjoy.  

Only since the formation of the school’s drumline has a new, renovated fight song been created to give a sample of what the Valiant Spirit is all about. The new Valiant fight song was well received by the Valiants due to its talented ensemble whose hard work paid off. 

When asked about her opinion regarding the new Valiant fight song, Annabel thinks that the song is great and likes it because “it’s easy to play and it is catchy.” 

Not only does she play the xylophone, she also plays the cymbals and the bells. Due to her talent to play many instruments, she enjoys the advantage to multitask with the instruments available to her. 

Although the drums are far much louder and stand out than that of the xylophone, Annabel truly stands out from the crowd. Her constant dedication to music from an early age has come to show that with commitment and loving what she does contribute to the realization of her full potential as a member of Saint Genevieve’s drumline team.

I believe that reporters that are renowned nationally have the advantage that compared to local reporters. The nationally acclaimed reporters of network stations have the benefit entitled to them and can easily acquire their news because they are well-known and powerful compared to the local stations. In other words, the network reporters can easily attain the information they need without trying as hard as the local stations. Also, the network reporters cover the news of the whole nation so therefore their newscasts always contain various news headlines than those of the local reporters who only tend to become repetitive due to insufficient news coverage.
